Kaleidoscope League + #SFB11 Giveaway
Last week was a taste of what is coming. We’ll have newsletters outlining the rules of leagues we have discussed on the show and others we simply know about that might interest you. Today, let’s dive into a league run by friend of the show, John Bosch.
John Bosch’s Kaleidoscope League
In John Bosch’s Kaleidoscope League, teams don’t draft in a conventional style. Instead, ADP is pulled from a source, and players are selected by each team from that master ADP list. You select one player from each round. This allows you to plant your flag on a guy in a round instead of hope a certain player falls to you.
It’s a best ball league.
You can play with any number of teams and structure the payouts accordingly. John does his with 100 teams, however you can easily do it with more. You can play this with just a few close friends, or maybe 12 acquaintances, or even 100 people you barely know. You can even invite Derek. Whoever that is.
Starting lineup settings and roster size can be what you want. (John uses 30 man rosters with a 12 player starting lineup of starting 2 per position and with 4 flexes)
You play 16 weeks of all-play or total points.
Trading is allowed, so you may select players in rounds you trade for as well.
You are always allowed to reach-a-round. For example, you are allowed to select a player in round 5 who has a 6th round ADP.
You’ll need to create a deadline for your “draft” to be submitted
John recommends using a 3rd party to submit their “draft” to. This is likely in a situation where the commissioner is playing in the league so that the commissioner can’t see other people’s “drafts.” If that is not a concern, then you can probably just submit to your commissioner to input into the league host.
In-season each team can make 3 waiver moves but it can’t be a player who was in the top 20 rounds of that master ADP list.
Although this is a very redraft friendly format… John does it as a dynasty and so can you! But how do you do a rookie draft in this format???
Get a master rookie ADP list
Teams that finish in the bottom 4th of the league will be allowed to “draft” ANY player in each round using the rookie ADP provided
Teams that finish in the bottom 1/2 of the league will be allowed to “draft” players 4-12 in each round using the ADP provided
Teams that finish in the bottom 3/4 of the league will be allowed to “draft” players 7-12 in each round using the ADP provided
Teams that finish in the top 4th of the league will be allowed to “draft” players 10-12 in each round using the ADP provided
Once again, have a deadline to submit and have teams submit to a 3rd party you can trust if the commissioner is in the league.
Follow John Bosch on twitter (@JohnBoschFF) and ask him any questions. Seriously, bombard him with questions. If you are in leagues with him, make sure to always send him questions even if the bylaws are readily available.
SFB Giveaway (March 5)
Once again, we’d like to thank everyone for the support. Not only are we looking forward to offering even more commissioner-specific content but also getting more people involved in all of the leagues we love the best. It’s coming!
Now for the part that you probably scrolled to read first. In fact, you probably aren’t even reading this. Tweet Ryan with the hastag #seaturtle if you read this. He’ll love that. I’ll set the over/under at 10 tweets but I just want Ryan to ask what the heck is going on.
